Author Spotlight – Carol Potenza

Bio:

Carol Potenza lives in southern New Mexico, USA, with her husband and teaches biochemistry at New Mexico State University. Looking for a hobby, she decided to write books she would enjoy reading, and in 2017, her novel, Hearts of the Missing, won the 2017 Tony Hillerman Prize for best debut mystery set in the southwest. She is currently working on the next book in the series. She is a member of Romance Writers of America and the Land of Enchantment Romance Authors.

  1. What’s your favorite place in the entire world?

At home with my family.

 

  1. What is the most useless thing you know how to do?

Cook.

 

  1. What three events made the biggest impact on who you are today?

Marriage to my husband/birth of my children.

Getting my Kindle as a Christmas present.

The SECOND time NMSU said they didn’t need me anymore and let me go.

 

  1. If you didn’t have to sleep what would you do with the extra time?

LEARN STUFF! Take online courses on art and literature, learn to read Latin and speak Cajun, go on archeological digs as a volunteer, become an expert on World War I, do research on site for my books.

 

  1. What other languages do you speak or would like to learn?

I speak some Spanish, would LOVE to speak Italian and French fluently, and wish I could read Latin.

 

  1. What age do you wish you could permanently be?

I wouldn’t want to go back in time unless I knew what I knew now, so I’m good.

 

  1. What are the small things that make your life better?

Whipped cream in my coffee, a latte and lemon poppy seed muffins at Milagros, listening to books on tape while driving distances with my husband.
